Street Support Assistant Volunteer
Cool to be Kind, based in Chelmsford, runs Street Support Chelmsford, part of the Street Support Network, a charity dedicated to tackling homelessness. We are looking for one or maybe two Street Support Assistant Volunteers responsible for supporting the Street Support Manager Chelmsford, checking the accuracy of data from our network of Essex-based organisations and inputting/amending this data in our online platform. As Street Support Chelmsford grows, we envision our Street Support team increasing in size, supporting our network to tackle homelessness.
Main tasks, duties and responsibilities (alongside the Street Support Manager at Cool to be Kind):
- To sort, check, review online documents for accuracy and assist in verifying that information is correct and current on the Street Support Chelmsford web pages.
- To help check for news stories and notable events on the websites and social media platforms of the organisations contained within Street Support Chelmsford. This also includes appeals for donations, volunteers or job vacancies.
- To help share posts on social media within relevant groups, contributing to increased awareness.
- To regularly attend virtual meetings, where possible, to discuss findings, progress or ideas. And to offer suggestions for improvement to our online platform if/when you see it. We encourage active participation and value the thoughts and ideas of our volunteers.
- Enter/update/delete data from online/scanned documents into our online platform.
- Initiate and respond via email to requests for data entry.
Education and experience:
- Proficient understanding of Gmail and Google Drive;
- Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel & Word);
- Ability to pick up new online platforms (training provided);
- Accurate keyboard skills;
- Fluent in English;
- Good communication skills both written and verbal.

Volunteer Role Description Commitment Length of appointment
We are looking for individual/s to initially consider a six-month commitment to this role with the intention of the role being extended.
Hours
We are hoping that you will be able to commit anything between 4-6 hours per week. Inputting data will vary depending on whether we have a new project in progress or if it’s business as usual (BAU). We ask that you take responsibility for managing your time to ensure all tasks are completed for that week. Working flexibly is great so long as, where possible if we have a deadline that you can help us hit it.

Location:
Remote.
Street Support Chelmsford is part of a digital organisation with staff and volunteers living in UK. Our services are based in the UK but we welcome applications from across the world as long as your written and spoken English is fluent. Our meetings take place via Zoom or Teams.
Probationary period:
The successful candidate will have a one-month probationary period, this is to ensure that it’s the right fit for both you and us.
Throughout the first month, our Street Support Chelmsford manager will have regular check-ins to discuss how you are doing, to offer/receive feedback and to provide any support needed.
